The first-timer
You signed up for your first 70.3 or Ironman and want to reach the start line fit, healthy and sure of the plan, not just hoping to survive.
Individual coaching for age-group athletes with jobs, families and a race they refuse to wing. Every session has a purpose. Every week is rebuilt around how you actually responded.
By application only. Not every athlete is accepted.
Adjusted Thursday: slept badly, intervals moved to Saturday.
Why I coach
My granddad had a stroke. It was terrible. He can't move anymore, and I can't begin to imagine how hard that must be for him.
So that is the goal behind all of this: I want fewer people to have strokes. Every athlete I coach is one more person who trains for years instead of weeks, and that is what I'm really working on.
Who it's for
You signed up for your first 70.3 or Ironman and want to reach the start line fit, healthy and sure of the plan, not just hoping to survive.
Three seasons, same finish time. You do the hours, but nobody is deciding which hours matter. That is the job.
You are chasing a slot or a podium in your age group. The margin is small, so pacing, fuelling and taper get planned to the minute.
The method
Work, travel, kids and sleep come first in the calendar. Training is fitted around them, so the week you get is one you can finish.
Forty good weeks beat four epic ones. Most sessions are easy on purpose, so the hard ones can be hard enough to move you.
Power, pace, heart rate and how you felt are read after every key session. The next week is written from that, not from a template.
Pacing, fuelling, transitions and the bad patches are practised in training until the race itself holds no surprises.
How it works
Send your goal, your week and what you train with. If I think I can help, we talk for thirty minutes. If not, I tell you.
Training history, test sessions in all three sports, and an honest look at the hours you really have.
A season mapped back from race day, delivered week by week in TrainingPeaks with a purpose on every session.
Your files and notes are read, feedback comes back, and the next week changes when your body or diary does.
Coaching
Both coaching levels include a weekly call. They differ in how closely we stay in touch between calls and how fast you hear back. The Season Plan is a one-time purchase: I map your year, you run it.

Results
70.3 PB · 5:48 → 5:31
Same hours as last year. The difference was knowing what each one was for. Seventeen minutes off without adding a single session.
First Olympic distance · 2:58
In January I could barely swim 400 metres. The plan never scared me and never bored me, and on race day nothing came as a surprise.
Bike threshold · +18 W in 12 weeks
Fernando sent me a chart of my heart rate drifting on long rides and changed how I fuel. The next long ride felt like a different sport.
Your coach
I'm the person who opens your file before the coffee is ready. Power curves, heart-rate drift, pace against effort, sleep: I love this stuff, and I read all of it so you don't have to.
You get the short version. What the numbers say, what we change next, and why.
Why I do it: my granddad had a stroke, and I want fewer people to go through that. That is the goal.

No. I keep the group small so every athlete gets real attention, and I only say yes when I'm confident I can help. That depends on what you have available: your weekly hours, your equipment and the data you can record. If it is not a fit right now, I'll tell you what would change that.
Less than you think. A sprint or Olympic race can be trained well on 5 to 7 hours, a 70.3 on 8 to 11, an Ironman on 10 to 15. The plan is built on the hours you really have, not the ones you wish you had.
Yes. Your watch and bike computer upload every session, you add a line on how it felt, and feedback comes back in writing or on a call. Most athletes get more attention this way than from a weekly squad session.
A GPS watch with heart rate and a bike you can ride safely. A power meter or smart trainer makes bike training more precise and is worth adding, but it is not required to start.
If you can swim 400 m without stopping, ride an hour and run 5 km, you are ready to be coached. Beginners usually improve fastest because nothing has been optimised yet.
You tell me and the plan changes the same day. Missed sessions are not made up; the week is rebuilt so you keep moving forward without digging a hole.
Coaching is billed monthly and can be cancelled with 30 days' notice. Real change takes about 12 weeks to show, so that is the horizon to judge it on.
